Dear Members,
Twice this year we have seen rises in government duty and beer prices from the brewers. Unfortunately these rises had to be passed onto you the members at cost. Carlsberg have now decided to put their prices up once again. We feel that we can’t put up to 10p on the price of a pint, and expect more customers, and nor can we stand to absorb this further rise ourselves. As you will be aware, there have also been hefty price rises for electricity and gas over the last year. In light of all this, and added to the fact that for many months now, the club has not been used as much as in the past, and during this time, we have had to put money into Rossi’s just to keep it open, it is with regret that we feel we now have no alternative but to close the club.
After 9 years at Rossi’s, it will be a sad loss for us and our family, and rest assured that we have not taken this decision lightly, and no amount of reminiscing or persuasion will alter the fact that the club is no longer financially viable.
There have been plenty of ups and downs during this time and many, many great memories and lots of friends made.
We would therefore like to invite all of our friends and members new and old, to join us in one last night at the club. We are now having a farewell party Sunday night, 12th October, after which the club will be shut, whilst a decision is taken on its future.
We are thrilled to announce our great friend Steve Charles and his wife Sally Ann will be there with us to give us one last night of magic at the club. It seems a fitting end, as Steve opened the club for us with his unrivalled talent all those years ago.
We will also have jackpot bingo, disco karaoke, a members’ poker tournament, and when the ale runs out you can go home from Rossi’s for the final time….….
We look forward to seeing you there.
Ian, Vicky, John & Les.
